Conceptualized in the quaint, idyllic town of New Bern North Carolina, the first offerings of this new builder is located at the riverside retirement community of Fairfield Harbor nestled next to the River Neuse. Boasting  amenities such as golfing and boating, a home complimentary to the surroundings was constructed with thoughtful intent and attention to the key pillars of the mission; craftsmanship, artistry, and affordability. The Alexander was built from the ground up on a beautifully wooded lot. At every stage of construction, engineering standards and material choices far exceeded the regional building codes as this home was built  to last the test of time.

The foundation is expertly designed and carefully constructed. It is made of  block with a decorative brick veneer sitting on 24 inch footings. There is sub-grade waterproofing of all exterior walls using repellent fabric.  The interior of the foundation forms a partially encapsulated crawl space. The interior walls are lined with adhesive insulation only interrupted by code-required flood vents. Sealed, caulked and affixed vapor barriers and subfloor insulation complete the encapsulation of the crawl-space.

The wood frame is made of high grade pressure treated lumber and is attached to the precisely leveled foundation via two sill plates. The sill plate/foundation interface is enhanced with the use of a foam sealant to prevent insect intrusion. The sill plates are attached with the usual anchor bolting system but is reinforced with L brackets to fortify the integrity of the foundation-sill plate interface. The flooring system installed has a lifetime warranty and provides a incredibly quiet and worry-free underfoot experience commensurate with the craftsmanship of this charming home.

Roofing members were constructed with pressure treated lumber and sheathed with the finest grade of Oriented Strand Boards (OSB) with radiant protection backing, and then covered with high quality underlay and flashing in the appropriate areas. The roof exterior was finished with a beautiful architectural shingle with an Underwriters Laboratory (UL) rating of Class A. The whole-house insulation is comprehensive and meets and exceeds local codes as we installed a key element in creating a luxurious habitable space. The electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems are state of the art and installed with the artistry consistent with our mission. The fit and finish of the resulting interior is beautiful, alluring, and stately, yet charming.

We were fortunate to work with an outstanding buyer. She participated in the process fully and provided input and feedback during most phases of construction. From the beautifully manicured exterior, to the ornate yet rustic front entrance to the relaxing custom crafted deck off the rear sunroom, we ensured that our buyer was completely satisfied. In so doing, BASIC Properties LLC endeavored to create a home that possesses the artistry, craftsmanship, and affordability consistent with our mission.
